Este libro presenta una amplia selección de las casas unifamiliares más paradigmáticas e influyentes del siglo xx, y que son un referente indispensable para cualquier profesional o estudiante de arquitectura. El centenar de casas reseñadas incluye las obras de los maestros del movimiento moderno, entre ellos Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe o Alvar Aalto, y otras de autores más contemporáneos, como Rem Koolhaas, Glenn Murcutt o Toyo Ito, entre otros.
Cada una de las casas se presenta mediante fotografías a todo color y plantas, secciones y alzados a escala, dibujados especialmente para esta publicación a partir de información y fuentes documentales actualizadas. Un breve texto explica los rasgos más característicos de cada obra, sus referencias previas y la influencia que ejerció en proyectos posteriores. Toda esta información permite una completa comprensión de cada proyecto y su contextualización por medio de referencias cruzadas entre las diferentes casas que aparecen en el libro.
