About the Author
Founder and past-president of the Council of Canadians and former chairman of the Committee for an Independent Canada, Mel Hurtig is an officer of the Order of Canada and has honorary degrees from six universities. He is the author of a number of bestselling books including The Vanishing Country, The Betrayal of Canada, Pay the Rent or Feed the Kids, and a memoir, At Twilight in the Country.

Furious indictment of the betrayal of the Canadian poor.

Mel Hurtig lays savagely into those who are permitting such disgraceful proportions of our poulation to continue to live in poverty and despair. He mercilessly strips through the received wisdom of (neo-)Liberal Party propaganda to reveal to what extent their turnarounds on the promises that got them elected have really and materially injured the Canadian populace. He shows us a face of poverty we don't usually get to see. This book left me furious. Please read it.

About the Author
George Bentley, DSc, MB, ChB, ChM, FRCS, FRCSE, F.Med.Sci, is Emeritus Professor of Orthopaedics at University College London and Honorary Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. For many years he was Director and Professor of Orthopaedics at the University Department of Orthopaedics, Institute of Orthopaedics, University College London, and Director of Clinical Studies at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London. During his long career, Professor Bentley has received numerous honours and acted as visiting professor to major institutions in the United States and elsewhere. He is a Past President of EFORT, the British Orthopaedic Research Society and the British Orthopaedic Association, and he has been President of the Seddon Society since 1991. In 1994 he became a “Membre d’Honneur” of the Société Francaise de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique. Professor Bentley has been European Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Arthroplasty since 2001 and has been a member of and advisor to the editorial boards of many other prestigious journals. In 2009 he became an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Useful for bird owners

As a bird lover and a bird mommy, It is so important to have a good avian medicine book. Birds are so delicate and hide their illness well by nature, so all bird owner should learn about them more so than any other types of pet owners.
Though it is a book intended for Vet Student, very easy to read and full of usuful information.

Great small book

I got this book because I couldn't afford the 2-volume Harrison and Lightfoot "Clinical Avian Medicine." This seems to have great overviews of avian medicine topics, and has a lot of photos. I would recommend this to any vet wanting to dabble in avian medicine... if you are planning on having a larger portion of your patients be birds, you might want to splurge on the 2-volume Harrison and Lightfoot set.

Does NOT include Connect access code!

My college bookstore sells this book with Connect access under the same ISBN, but I thought I would save a few dollars and buy it from Amazon instead. The Amazon description led me to believe that a Connect code would also be included with this book. I did see the other reviews stating otherwise, but figured they ordered it used or from a 3rd party and that is why the code wasn't included. I made sure to purchase a "new" book "shipped and sold" by Amazon, but still no Connect code. I now have to pay an additional fee for Connect. It would have been cheaper for me to purchase a new copy with Connect from the college bookstore or maybe I would have purchased a used copy of the book on Amazon if I'd have known Connect was not included. The Amazon book description could be worded a little better. Rating three stars as I do not yet have an opinion of the book itself. I may change the rating as I work my way through the book.

Note: The book does mention a 3-week free trial of Connect for those who want to try it before spending more money. However, Connect access is a requirement in my class.

Update: Looks like the product description has since changed and there is even a note saying that it is a standalone book. I'm glad the description has been updated.

IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE CODE TO GET ACCESS TO CONNECT PLUS+!!!!! I WAS SOARLY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED. JUST 5 DAYS FROM THE START OF CLASS!!!!!.
