Terrible Grammar Errors, Will Not Provide Adequate Preparation

The 5 star reviews must be written by paid reviewers. One of the reviewers mentioned that s/he loved looking at the beautiful pictures; really? The pictures in the answer choices were mere cartoon drawings, no beauty to behold. Ridiculous.

The Cogat test is designed to be read aloud to students. Reading the questions aloud was almost impossible as I struggled to correct the grammar without changing the meaning of the sentence. I do not believe the question writers are native English speakers, as many of the errors involve subject-verb agreement (or disagreement as the case may be). Many of the questions were so poorly written that the misplaced prepositional phrases changed the meaning of the question and led the child to the incorrect answer. Additionally, the foils (wrong answer choices) were so poorly chosen that a child, gifted or not, could easily choose the right answer without even reading the question.

It was helpful to have an idea of what sorts of questions might be asked, but because the grammar was so awful and the foils so obvious, it is impossible for me to know whether the level of this practice test is anywhere near the level of the actual Cogat. I sincerely hope that the editors of the official exam are more competent and discerning than the editors of this practice test.

Very poorly designed book. Set of questions have incorrect options: correct answer is no present in 5 options. Level of question is not clearly defined and adhoc.

found it a productive prep material but obviously once used once, not really functional after that so use judiciously. also make sure you know what actual cogat form your child is taking as the differences between forms can be significant.

The one star is NOT for the content which is amazing, but A.P's printing job. It was no better than I could have done with an almost dry ink roller and cheap paper . It was THE worst printing job EVER, with light spots and lines. I was SOOO upset because the one I borrowed at the library is beautiful with glossy paper and great photos. So, if you want this book, MAKE SURE IT'S ON GLOSSY PAPER and get it USED. I would have paid maybe $10 for the copy I got, NOT $90.

As a physical/biological Anthropology grad student, this book is tantamount to a bible for me. The pictures are gorgeous, and the text leaves nothing to be desired. As a bonus, can be used to incapacitate any intruders that interupt frantic, late night studying. A great book that goes well with Tim D. White's "Human Bone Manual", which offers a portable and more "bare bones" version to save any injury to your vertebrae while carrying it to class. A great book and must have for physical anthropologists.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in growing anything hydroponically

I am quite impressed. All the scientific information is here but Josh makes it understandable to any one. Many of these books I have read either make it too simple or too complicated. Josh manages to explain both, you can understand the science and/or just use the book to grow. The illustrations are very clear. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in growing anything hydroponically, not just Marajuana. I will be watching for more work from Josh Sheets.

I'm impressed at the clear and concise manner the author uses in each of the steps involved in setting up a system and growing marijuana. This book is well laid-out, easy to read, with great information; also the methods described don't just apply to marijuana, but are excellent for many plants.

Everything you need to know to grow marijuana

So thorough. This book tells you everything you need to know to grow your own marijuana. Everything from the seeds, how to care for the plants and how to build the growing environments. There are lots of details and steps but if you follow all the tutorials in this book you are sure to have a great crop. Excellent photos and illustrations especially when it it covers over/under watering. light, temperature, nutrients, etc.

A basic feature of Engineering Tribology 2nd Edition is the emphasis on describing various concepts in an accessible manner for the benefit of non-specialists. This principle is applied from the beginning of the book, where the reader is introduced to the fundamental concept of tribology. This concept is then used to show how the various topics in tribology are interrelated to form one coherent subject. A direct graphical illustration of the mechanisms controlling tribological phenomena is presented. Carefully prepared diagrams allow rapid appreciation of the basic ideas and facts in tribology. The numerical analysis of hydrodynamic lubrication is supported by a number of computer programs which are included in the book. The control of wear is given extensive treatment with a thorough discussion of lubricant additives, solid lubricants and surface coatings. The effectiveness of coatings in suppressing specific forms of wear is analyzed together with the methods of coatings deposition. More than 1000 references are provided to give the reader access to more specialized information if required.

About the Author
Gwidon Stachowiak is a Professor at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, specializing in tribology. His research interests include the development of methods for description of multiscale 3D surface topographies, tribocorrosion, and optimization of 3D surface textures for hydrodynamic contacts.

Andrew W. Batchelor has been involved in tribology for 30 years and has taught tribology at universities in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and India. He has written books on topics relating to materials degradation, biomaterials and bioengineering.

Tribology is an extremely complex field that encompasses a vast variety of scientific disciplines and includes the work of such scientists as Newton and Raleigh. Stachowiak and Batchelor have produced a technical guide suitable for students, professional engineers and experts alike. It is a complete reference for tribology encompassing such diverse material as lubrication methods (Boundary, EHL etc), design and condition monitoring.
The authors have a knack for presenting otherwise inaccessible material in a manner which is easy to digest. Material, sourced and adapted from an extraordinary array of reference sources, is combined with innovative diagrams that complement the text rendering explanations of exceptionally high clarity.
Programs, based on the theory presented, are included at the rear of the book presenting the practicing engineer with invaluable tools for the design of tribological devices.

Good text fror lubrication theory

If you are interested in the technical side of lubrication, this is a really great engineering book for the mechanical engineer. Well written and contains easy to follow theoretical models. Great for both teaching and research. Best general text on lubrication theory, covering many of the technical areas of bearing wear and fatigue.
