The Complete Work presents a fully illustrated decade-by-decade account of Ponti's vast output in interior and industrial design, decorative arts, and architecture. It describes his powerful influence on generations of Italian designers, his contributions to Italy's urban culture, and his role as a propagandist and editor.

Gio Ponti was not only an architect but a poet, painter, polemicist, and designer of exhibitions, theater costumes, Venini glassware, Arthur Krupp tableware, Cassina furniture, lighting fixtures, and ocean liner interiors. He is perhaps best known as the architect of Milan's Pirelli tower, at one time the tallest building in Europe, and for his "Super-leggera" chair which was first manufactured in the '50s and has become classic because of its almost universal use in Italian restaurants. Above all, Ponti was responsible for the renewal of Italian architecture and decorative arts. Drawing upon the legacy of the Viennese Secession and the Wiener Werkstatte, he transformed "classical" language into a rationalist vocabulary.

The entire photographic archive of Ponti's studio, together with his unpublished writings, were made available for the first time for the preparation of this book. There are many new photographs of his work and a broad selection of his letters, diaries and essays. A biographical profile, bibliography, and chronologies of works, exhibitions, and sales round out this stunning book

Lisa Licitra Ponti is curator of the Ponti Archives, She is also a well-known art and architecture critic. She collaborated with her father from 1940 until his death in 1979.

Need to Improve your Packing Method

I received the book in a very timely manner. Thanks! BUT, the packaging caused the corner to be damaged. I returned it and received the 2nd book very quickly. Thanks again. BUT the packaging was the same and the corner was damaged! THis was to be a GIFT/Award for a graduate. There wasn't time to ask for another. Using cardboard with the corners cut off does not protect the book in shipping. You really need to look into this!

great resource for under 200$

You are looking for a histology resource, probably as a pathologist or pathology resident. With a little modification, the third and updated edition of histology for pathologists may be the thing for you (if you have some time to read and tweak).
If you are looking for a "fast and furious" review, combine the histology sections of each chapter of Robbins and Rosai. However, if you really like histology - or feel that the knowledge of normal anatomy is the foundation to diagnose diseases, a more indepth review is required.
But: does histology change? or will the second edition do it?
The new version is really updated with many new color pictures and excellent makeover of the "not so colorfull" pictures in the older version. The main organ system structures stays the same and the apoptosis chapter from the 2nd edition is integrated in the different systems by site. All tables show a new, colored layout and even the myofibroblast chapter shines with multichannel immunohistochemistry. The big bonus is the included CD-Rom with almost all pictures from the book (including line-drawings). A nice option of the CD is to search by key-word (eg. endomterium pops up all figures with endometrium in the legend - a very nice feature) and all pictures can be downloaded for presentations. Two new figures about the sampling of the conduction system integrate gross sampling and histologic examination.
Summary - it's worth 160.
Now the tweaking. If you really want the ultimate resource you would have to go to the library, get the 2nd edition and copy/add the following pages/figures: Fig11.2, 86.2, 159.22, 259.23 293.7, 299.12, 306.19, 338.5, 340.6, 343, 345, 361, 362, 364, 435, 441, 533, 534, 664, 676, 684, 776, 800, 801, 802, 803, 827, 828, 1061 and 1134. Most of these are either classic figures not incorporated or modified in the new edition; some are simply better in black and white; and some are just old-school but still cool.
As a result you have a very complete histology text/atlas with updated references and a personal touch.

This should be your first F# book

If you're looking for your first F# book, get this one. After just a few chapters, you'll see just how beautiful and simple F# is. The programs you'll write will be shorter and easier to understand than programs you write in other languages. Your code will have all the safety of .NET's static type system, but the brevity of dynamically typed languages such as Python. You'll be able to walk away from your code for a year, and when you return to it you'll immediately see what you were doing. You'll be able to tap into the huge .NET ecosystem, and use libraries written in any other .NET language. Lastly, your F# programs will run on Linux and OSX using Mono. Chris Smith's writing is clear, succinct, and fun to read. For your second book on F#, try Expert F# 3.0.

Excellent overview on the F# language. Some unneeded content.

Excellent coverage on all the language's features.
However there are some parts that I didn't like:

The first is that I think I didn't need to read all the way on how to implement an inverted index search engine. Just the idea of how it's implemented in some chapter would be fine. After all I bought an F# book, not a search engine book.
The other, and for a similar reason, is that the book explains the .Net framework again. I understand that the book states that "no previous experience with functional programming or .NET is required" but, in my opinion, I should have read that somewhere in the cover.

I could have used:
More techniques that involves integrations with Type Descriptors.
More functional programming techniques like the part that explains tail recursion, continuations, etc, it was an excellent chapter. I wish that part could have been longer. I would gladly trade it with the Events chapter or the search engine one.

An okay first step for F#

A good book, but as a seasoned C# developer I found it jumped around a lot. In the code samples the book often uses techniques it hasn't even covered yet, and for the more bizarre and ugly aspects of the F# language(at least to a C# programmer's perspective) it very often says "we'll explain this later" without ever really doing so.

Still, a good introduction to F# that left me wanting to learn more and understand why they did things a certain way.

About the Author
Joan Salge Blake is a Clinical Associate Professor and Dietetics Internship Director at Boston University's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate nutrition courses. She received her MS from Boston University.

Joan is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) and the Massachusetts Dietetic Association (MDA). She has been a presenter and Presiding Officer at both the AND Annual Meeting and the MDA Annual Convention and is a guest lecturer at both the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine and the Boston University School of Medicine. She was previously named MDA's “Young Dietitian of the Year” and is the past Director of Education and Nominating Committee Chairperson for the MDA. She currently serves on the MDA board. Joan has received the Whitney Powers Excellence in Teaching award from Boston University and the Annie Galbraith Outstanding Dietitian award from the Massachusetts Dietetic Association.

In addition to teaching and writing, Joan has a private practice specializing in weight management and lifestyle changes. Joan is often asked to translate complex nutritional issues in popular terms. As an AND National Media Spokesperson she has conducted over 850 media interviews, and is a contributor of nutrition articles to a variety of magazines and news outlets.
